How did you come up with the name?

The origins of the bar are that I was in a corporate job for 15 years and I wanted to do something more challenging and rewarding whilst at the same time give something back to Tooting. I came up with some awful names at first, including St Nicks! I’ve always liked Goldfinch.

What do you love most about being part of the Tooting community?

I love the fact that Tooting is a really friendly place, not just our customers but also the other local businesses too.

What’s the one thing that you would want people to know about Goldfinch?

When I opened the bar I really wanted it to be a place where people could come and feel comfortable, even if they are having a drink on their own. We take our time to talk to people, find out what drinks they like and try and create something which is bespoke to them. A lot of thought goes into the drinks, we use quality ingredients and support local distillers.

Do you/Goldfinch have anything exciting coming up that you’d like to share?

For the New year we’ll be continuing our comedy evenings. Also, Nappy hour, where new mums & dads) can come in with babies and have a safe space. In the spring we’ll have some ‘pop up’ food in the courtyard, teaming up again with Southern Kitchen. We’re also working on a ‘Speed dating’ night so watch out for that…

Absolute pleasure sitting down and having a chat with Paul. Goldfinch really is a wonderful unique setting not just for Tooting but for SW London! If you haven’t been, before I highly recommend you pay them a visit, I’d be astounded if you don’t have a lovely time!
