I will let these guys introduce themselves
Hello, my name is Kemilia and I am one of the co owners of Mud.
My name is Femi and I am the Head Chef here at Mud in Tooting.
How did you come up with the name Mud? How did it begin?
Mud existed here as a business before we came in 2019, and we thought it’s a funny name and it works, we will stick with the branding.
Food has always been a massive part of our lives growing up. So when this unit became available we said let’s go for it. We are big foodies at home, we just hadn’t taken that leap yet. It was the perfect opportunity to get involved.
What do you guys love about being part of the Tooting community?
Part of being in Tooting is like being in London, the diversity of people. It’s so nice and refreshing to have Mud as a place where people come together from lots of different backgrounds to meet, celebrate, be happy and be together. The community gets behind that.
If there were a few things you would like people to know about Mud, that is not obvious, what would it be?
We are a family run, independent coffee shop. We are not part of a chain. It’s just me, my sister and my mum.
What’s your most popular dish?
For a while it was the wild mushroom dish. Now it’s been taken over by the chorizo hash, which is my personal favourite dish. Another one is the plantain bene, a classic eggs Benedict but with a twist.
What exciting plans do you have?
Here’s an exclusive, we want to bring Nigerian food to Tooting, that’s the goal. Elevated, exciting, small plates with West African influence, Caribbean influences, benefitting from the amazing food that’s available in the local market.
Guys, you know where you need to go.......Mud. We will see you there soon.
